The Nazis recognized that Germany’s assets would fall into the hands of the rapidly approaching enemy if they were not transferred and hidden. The nation’s wealth, much of it acquired through the plunder of the nations it invaded and the people the Nazis murdered, had to be transferred so they would be out of judicial reach, but accessible to fund a future movement to resurrect the party and build a new Reich. Leading Nazi officials also feared retribution from the Allies and, rather than face likely punishment for their war crimes, they decided to seek safe havens outside Germany, and beyond the reach of justice. According to the protocol from the meeting:
The city’s efforts to gradually diversify away from the energy industry have led to a growing role for the logistics industry, using Odessa’s location along the major road and rail links through West Texas. Odessa is a stop on the Entrada al Pacífico trade corridor. The city became home to major retail distribution centers for Family Dollar in 2003 and for Coca-Cola in early 2007.

Vuonna 1794 tsaaritar Katariina Suuri määräsi aiemman kreikkalaisasutuksen mukaan nimetyn Odessan kaupungin perustettavaksi 1793 perustetun venäläislinnoituksen yhteyteen. Uuden sota- ja kauppasataman kautta voitiin varmistaa Venäjän yhteys Mustallemerelle. Kaupunki kuului vuosina 1802–1920 Venäjän keisarikunnan Hersonin kuvernementtiin.

As soon as you exit the customs, there will be lots of taxi drivers asking you if you need a taxi. Their prices may be VERY high and they basically rip tourists off, so do not agree, or at least negotiate as fiercely as you can. The normal ride to the city center should not cost more than UAH 100 ($3.55 as of Jan 2018). It’s better to call one of the taxis listed below in our #Get around section.

The jack rabbit has become the symbol of Odessa. Beginning in 1932, Odessa held a rodeo for roping rabbits. In one competition, cowgirl Grace Hendricks roped a rabbit from horseback in five seconds and beat her male competitors. The unusual rodeo ended in 1977 because of objections from the Humane Society. Many businesses and residences about Odessa display models of rabbits.
Street crime (pickpocketing and scamming) is common, particularly in crowded places, in tourist areas, in bars and nightclubs and on public transportation, especially after nightfall. This includes muggings. Armed robbery can also occur, especially in the peripherial neighbourhoods. Racially motivated violence and harassment can occur without corrective action by local authorities.

In some of the trolleybuses (definitely in numbers 1 and 2) there is no one going and collecting the money from you, so you have to exit through the front door and pay the driver. In such a case you may get onto the trolleybus through any of the doors, but exit only through the front.

The airport is easily reachable from city centre, as well as other districts by minibus. Bus 129 links the airport with the railway station making stops in the Cheriomushky district. Minibus 117 (UAH 5) also connects with the city centre, going up Katerynynska Street at least as far as Burina Street. To find the minibuses exit the airport through the main entrance and turn right, then walk 50 metres and you will see the minibus stop. Trolleybus 14 is an efficient and cheap (UAH 3, $0,107) way to reach the main railway station from the airport and vice versa. The stop is on the right hand side as you exit the airport gate. Note that the tram may or may not come, and as you wait you’ll notice more than one minibus 117 arriving and departing nearby during the time you wait. The tram also doesn’t go into the the center but instead goes around it.
Great meal here last night with my friend. We started with crab cakes and the caprese salad which we shared. Unusual touches really made the salad which had mixed leaf and orange segments which brought it up a peg, and the crab was served with a spicy Marie Rose sauce which i was particularly taken with.
Overall, however, we had an excellent experience in the restaurant and the space in the bar was lovely. We never felt rushed during the meal and one waitress was very helpful with the wine, allowing me to taste a couple of different ones. We will be back and I would definitely recommend! See More

I had the mozzarella starter which was strange. Nothing tasted bad just the components didn’t really seem to come together well. It was a mixed salad of rocket, mozzarella, beetroot, red cabbage and balsamic vinegar. (The balsamic tasted a little like soy sauce)

We had a big table which is sometimes hard for everyone to be happy but everything ordered looked amazing. We drank big pitchers of mimosa which also went down really well – although at €50 they certainly aren’t cheap. After brunch we sat on the roof top terrace and had a few more drinks. Such a lovely spot for a bar and very good cocktails.
Some countries may not have known about their new immigrants’ pasts, but many did and chose to look the other way. Others, including the United States, looked to exploit the knowledge of Nazis. Fascist countries, such as Spain under Franco, as well as those in South America, became safe havens. The establishment of the state of Israel after World War II led some Arab nations to welcome Nazis who shared their hatred of the Jews in the hope they would use their experise in areas such as rocketry to tilt the balance in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Kaupunki on huomattava satamakaupunki sekä rahti- että matkustajaliikenteessä. Odessan satama on Mustanmeren suurimpia satamia. Odessa on tärkeä risteyspaikka Mustaltamereltä Romaniaan, Moldovaan, muualle Ukrainaan ja Venäjälle johtavassa maantie- ja rautatieliikenteessä. Kaupunkiin johtavista valtateistä suurimpia ovat M05 (osa eurooppatietä E95 Pietarista Kiovan kautta, meriyhteyden jälkeen jatkuu Turkkiin), M14 (itään Nikolajeviin, osa eurooppatietä E 58), M15 (lounaaseen Moldovaan, osa eurooppatietä E 87) ja M17 (luoteeseen Tiraspoliin, osa eurooppateitä E 58 ja E 581). Odessan rautatieasema on yksi Ukrainan rautateiden tärkeimpiä. Viime aikoina kaupunkiin on suunniteltu suurnopeusjunayhteyttä. Odessan kansainvälinen lentoasema palvelee kaupunkia.
