The Midland–Odessa Symphony and Chorale (MOSC) was founded in 1962, and is the region’s largest orchestral organization, presenting both Pops and Masterworks concerts throughout the year. Composed of professional musicians from the area, as well as Lubbock, San Angelo, and other surrounding cities, the MOSC is also home to three resident chamber ensembles: the Lone Star Brass, Permian Basin String Quartet, and West Texas Winds. These ensembles are made up of principal musicians in the orchestra, who come to the area from across the United States.

I am playing at The El Ray in Los Angeles on June 16th. In a previous post, which I deleted, i asked “what local places i should check out?”. I did not write that post and I have lived in LA for the last year and a half so I know where to hang out! Communication wires got crossed. I have a ghost that sometimes post in my stead. Occasionally they get things wrong. Usually they are very helpful at social media. See you at the show!

When you work for a company, you may find yourself in need of an employment lawyer – especially if the relationship between you and your employer sours. An employment attorney prevents people from losing their jobs due to unfair reasons. Workers’ compensation lawyers help maintain safe employment conditions and ensure workers receive fair compensation after workplace injury or discrimination.
Beware of filthy conditions and bedbugs in some of the homestay budget accommodation in Odesa. If you enter by train you will be immediately approached by one of the many locals in an attempt to get you to rent a room from them. This may end up being a small not so well constructed (but basically clean) one room structure located in their garden. It may also not come with a shower with running water, instead consisting of a small outdoor cabinet with a tank located above it that your host will fill with hot water upon request. Additionally the local accommodation will most likely have a squat toilet. For those uncomfortable with using a squat toilet the facilities at the McDonald’s near the train station make for a good substitute. Note that nobody speaks English or German (even the most basic talk). This makes the negotiations very difficult! In July/August most budget hotels are fully booked. The total price for your garden residency will usually not exceed 10 USD and in the summer it is more than sufficient. The hostels in the city can be booked online or try your luck and just drop in.
Marraskuussa viranomaiset määräsivät 35000 juutalaista kahteen ghettoon kaupungin laitamille. josta heidät tammi–helmikuussa 1942 siirrettiin eri leireihin Berezovkan alueelle Transnistriaan. SS-joukot murhasivat loput juutalaiset ja Berezovkan leirin asukkaat vuoden 1943 aikana.

Odessa’s Presidential Museum and Leadership Library, on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, is the only facility of its kind in the United States—dedicated to the office of the Presidency, not any particular occupant of the Oval Office. There are also displays about the Presidents of the Republic of Texas. The museum was pushed to fruition by the late State Representative George “Buddy” West of Odessa. The building itself is named for West and his wife, Shirley.

Food took a while to come out, as did beverages. The coffees were not particularly hot nor quality, which was a major disappointment, and the food was just “average” – would actually rather have gone with the standard Full Irish type thing than spent a bit more on their specialty items for less food which didn’t wow us at all.
Odesa (Ukrainian: Одеса) is the administrative centre of the Odesa Oblast (province/region) located in southern part of Ukraine. The city is a major seaport located on the shore of the Black Sea and the fourth largest city in Ukraine with a population of 1,029,000 (2001 census).
Brunchwise, I think the choice of food is quite good. But the place itself seems quite dim-ish and the view from the first floor is dull. I ordered toast with bacon in Mariel syrup and I enjoyed it. My friend’s quesadilla though wasn’t that good since the cheese seemed a bit plastic.
The Globe of the Great Southwest, located on the campus of Odessa College, the community college in Odessa, features an authentic replica of William Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. It hosts plays and other community groups throughout the year, as well as an annual Shakespeare festival.
Odessa has a Stonehenge replica on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Completed in 2004, the replica is horizontally equal to the Stonehenge in England, but only 70% of the vertical height of the original.

Most locals understand Ukrainian: Ukrainian is the country’s only official language. However, the native language of most of Odesa is Russian. Almost every one of the city’s numerous colleges and universities has a ”Russian as foreign language” teaching department.
Fantastically Wonderful! We really want to say thank you for everything that they have done for me. We felt really lost before talking to them, We didn’t think We was going to receive any help at all after the accident. They really went out of their way to explain everything, and to make sure our best interests were theirs as well. We are really pleased and also impressed with how they handled everything about our case. We would highly recommend going to them after how well they have treated us.read more

We just started our 5th grade daughter this year at Odessa Christian School and we absolutely love it. Our daughter is excited to go to school everyday and loves studying the bible in class. When we w…ere looking for a Christian school to put her in we visited some potential others also, however nothing could beat the peace we felt on the OCS grounds. The staff is so pleasant and nice. We just knew this was the place. We couldn’t be more blessed. 🙂 See More
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) began in 1973. UTPB was an upper level and graduate university until the Texas Legislature passed a bill in spring 1991 to allow the university to accept freshmen and sophomores. As of 2006, the university was holding discussions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission about construction of a new High-Temperature Teaching and Test Reactor which, if successful, would finish licensing and construction around 2012. It would be the first university-based research reactor to be built in the US in roughly a decade, and be one of the few HTGR-type reactors in the world. In January 2006, UTPB’s School of Business was awarded accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). AACSB is generally regarded as the premier accreditation agency for the world’s business schools. According to the university, only 30% of business schools in the United States, and 15% of world business schools, have received AACSB accreditation.

Brunch in Dublin is becoming a religion. People start discussing their weekend plans as early as Wednesday and finding the right place to eat the best meal of the week is now nearly important as the night out that proceeds it. As the city has come out of it’s shell over the last couple of years so have the brunch options. I used to swear by Odessa as my “go to” spot but that is starting to change. It isn’t that Odessa has gone downhill (it is still solid) but more that the standard elsewhere has been on the up…

The only disappointing element of the night was the bar staff upstairs. On 2 occasions unfinished drinks were lifted and my pregnant sister was disappointed that coke and 7up were her only options of drinks! Perhaps a little more value given to non drinkers would be nice.
It is somewhat difficult to get around Odesa by car, because there is a lack of signs other than in Ukrainian. You will see some “Kyiv” or “Airport” signs, but just from time to time. Buy a map before you get in. Nevertheless, you can drive your own car in the whole city, including the city centre. There are no restrictions in the driving areas and parking places can be found even in the centre. There are no parking machines and sometimes you may wonder whether the place is free to park. Don’t worry, you may park you car unless there is a sign that prohibits it. If the parking area is not free, you will be approached by a guy demanding some UAH5-10 from you. You may try negotiating a lower price, but usually not lower than UAH5, if you indicate you will be parked for a short time, like 30-60 minutes for example.
