Vintage ukelele swing and goodtime music is what Minnie and the Illywhackers bring. And this month, they’re bringing it to Odessa Club.
They describe themselves as a vaudevillian, ukelele swing band. Their style and instrumentation (vocal harmonies, ukulele, stand up bass, mandonlin, dobro, fiddle and trumpet with a little harmonica thrown in) evokes an intimate, old supper club feel. Their set is comprised of original songs, and forgotten classics from the first half of the 20th century.
With musical greats such as George Fornbie and Ella Fitzgerald listed among their influences, you’re in for a treat.
