It is well documented that money in America has a strong preference for certain ethnicities. For example, about one in five of Scotch Americans become millionaires likely as they are the least free with their money (well, being scotch). A K-12 teacher saving 20% and investing wisely could have over $2 million in savings when retiring. It is always better to learn to spend less than to learn to make more — without this, earning more won’t help. Bankrupt movie stars, athletes, and business executives have become but a sad cliché. Most people get this completely backwards. One common way Americans fail is to buy too big of a home (while Warren Buffett still lives in his first middle-class home). Stanley reported (1996) the typical millionaire paid less than $400 for his most expensive suit (dressing for success seems a myth) and less than $25,000 for his or her most recent car (likely a Ford)… just $3,000 more than the average American spent. Be honest, we all could be more frugal.

But gearing up with the right technology alone isn’t the secret to building a scalable company from home. You’ve got to have the right mindset. Here are tips from three home-based entrepreneurs who’ve built businesses with annual sales above $1 million. Trader Tim Grittani agrees that trading in and out of these low-cost stocks like he does, often within minutes, is risky. But his $1,500 became a portfolio worth more than $1 million within three years — when he was only 24. Many of us are interested in becoming millionaires. However, that goal sometimes seems rather far away. You don’t have to be born rich, or inherit a fortune, to become a millionaire. If you have the right stuff, you can work your way into your millions. But it helps to know what traits often make a millionaire. Here are 5 traits that many millionaires have — and that you can develop: If you've watched “The Wolf of Wall Street” you might have found yourself almost admiring Jordan Belfort. But making money on the stock market isn't nearly as glamorous as the movies make it out to be. It's also not as profitable for the vast majority of investors. You're just as likely to lose some, or all, of your investment capital as you are to bank millions. Period. This module really dives into helping anyone learn how to market their business better whether it’s using online methods, traditional advertising, or a blending of the two. This module alone is worth the full price if you’re not 100% confident in your current marketing efforts (or if you are yet aren’t seeing the results you want). The President of the largest steel company, Charles Schwab, who worked his way up from an entry-level job in an Andrew Carnegie steel mill at age 17 to become president of Carnegie Steel at 35, lived his last years on borrowed money. When many of us think of millionaires, we picture high-powered executives cruising around town in chauffeured limousines. But you don't need to earn an extraordinarily high salary to join the ranks of the wealthy. In fact, if you play your cards right, you can become a millionaire on a fairly ordinary salary -- just $56,000 a year, in fact. Nice breakdown of the $1,000,000 achievement, surely is the way to view it to plan, just like running a marathon. Very well done blog post, couldn’t help myself other than to respond and say thanks as well as I got the unlimited license for Table Labs and it surely was worth it as well. A traditional way to do this is to get your MBA from a prestigious school and then get a fast-track job that takes you up the corporate ladder. An MBA will teach you about the basics of accounting and how the financial numbers relate to your systems, but having an MBA doesn't mean you're competent to run a business. You'll need to spend 10 to 15 years in a company to learn all the different aspects of business. Then, you should plan on leaving to start your own company. Working for a successful major corporation is like being paid by your mentor. “Start with 1 or 2 main channels of communication and publishing where you can be sending people. Experiment with other touch points that you know people are using. Those might be doing Facebook Lives, Instagram Stories, Snapchat, and layering on other ways of reaching new audiences such as Facebook ads, guest interviews, and strategic partnerships. Keep it simple and always be sending people back to the main channels.” – Anne Samoilov 8. Go with your gut instincts. If any future money making venture doesn’t seem right to you…..think long and hard there are very few get rich quick schemes that work.Success will only come from hard work. “If your focus is to add as much value as possible, the revenue takes care of itself,” Shannon says. “We deal in a very organic, transparent way. People who want to work with us know that they’re going to be dealt with fairly, and also that we’re going to be adding value. Because of that, we get a lot of referrals, which really helped grow the business to earn what we do now.”

Check your self-confidence. If it’s low, now is the time to build it up. High self-esteem and good self-confidence are essential traits to help you on your way. However, don’t let this delay you. You can fake it until you make it and the more you practice being confident, the sooner it becomes a part of who you are.[5]
Rule No. 7: Customer Service. You can treat each customer, new and old, like a real human being. “We intuitively sort of knew what we didn’t like in customer service everywhere else: automated calling trees, slow response times, poor problem solving, etc., so we made sure there was as little friction as possible between the customer contacting us and actually getting their problem solved.” When you are a small business, there’s no excuse for having poor customer service. Your best new customers are your old customers, and the best way to touch your old customers is to provide quick help when they need it. Customer service is the most reliable touch point to keep selling your service to them.
Step one. Figure out an area that is “hot”. For instance, Facebook marketing is inning one. Better tests  for personalized diagnostics of age-related diseases is in inning one. Understanding the root causes of depression is in inning one. Combining mobile with social is in inning one. Self-publishing your book and marketing it is in inning one.  There are probably 30 more areas I’m neglecting to mention. Maybe 100. Or 1000. Start listing them today.
For example, I was recently at the gym with my brother. At the beginning of the workout, he was struggling mentally. He wasn’t adding to my energy and helping my workout become better than if I was alone, but instead, he was sucking my energy and requiring me to exert more energy and effort than if I was alone.

Education truly is a “silver bullet” for all that ails you. A college degree is called the Million Dollar Gift as it typically provides one more than a million dollars ($1.2 million on average) in additional lifetime income (of course, it should be a degree in something that’s marketable). Did you know many top “for-profit” schools (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, etc.) provide free tuition for those from families making less than $60-$75,000? Did you know a minority of students are accepted into college just on grades (good thing for me)? And, did you know there’s about $16 billion in aid and that most of it is not merit based? Finally, it is said the “rich” usually plan for three generations while the “poor” only plan for the weekend. Good advice from Rich Dad Poor Dad is to build a financial plan (with a professional planner) and then do it again. A financial plan should not be about getting rich but to primarily just help identify what’s important to you. Plus, it’s difficult to improve what you don’t track.
In crowdfunding, two items are crucial: the quality of your network and your online image, says Joy Schoffler, principal of Leverage PR, a publicity firm for growth-stage businesses that has helped clients raise tens of millions in capital.
Special note: Most brokers typically have minimum amounts for opening a Roth IRA, usually $3,000. Sometimes they’ll waive the minimums if you set up an automatic payment plan depositing, say, $100/month.
But wait! One million dollars today has the spending power of about $240,900 in 1977 dollars. If we experience similar inflation in the next 40 years, your future million will also be worth just $240,900 in today’s dollars.
Rental income is the easier choice to make here if you just want passive income. The issue is that making a million dollars from rental income would involve buying multiple properties. You’d have to scale to a level that requires you to hire people to manage your properties. The more people you hire, the less positive cash flow you have each month. You could quite easily create a full-time job for yourself, without ever meaning to.
Second, decide where to invest your Roth money; technically you can be in stocks, index funds, mutual funds, whatever. But I suggest investing your money in a low-cost, diversified portfolio that includes index funds such as the S&P 500. The S&P 500 averages a return of 10% and is managed with barely any fees.
The flipside of the above approach is you don’t need to live on Ramen noodles and beans for the next five years if you want to make a million dollars. It just means using a bit more common sense when it comes to spending. It means avoiding expensive finance deals on cars, vacationing “at home”, cooking your own meals instead of eating out, and basically behaving like an adult who doesn’t want to spend the rest of their life in debt.
A great many people aspire to become a millionaire, but not so many people are pushing themselves hard enough to reach that particular goal. In a world where being a billionaire is now the new target for the rich, becoming a millionaire is a real possibility for many an average Joe, and it mostly comes down to good management, sensible thinking and occasional calculated risks.
Bryan found ten customers (out of the first 12 he approached) who would switch their credit card processing to him. He figured he needed to make $2100 a month to quit his job. With his first ten customers he was making $6,200 a month, so he had a cushion in case some dropped away. He quit his job and suddenly he was in business.
Only you know what gets you into a peak and passionate state. So, do whatever it is that gets you there, and then write down your goals. Declare what you’re going to do. Then write that goal down and visualize it’s achievement every single day until it becomes your reality.
You will need to find 20 other stocks that perform as well as Netflix to make US$1,000,000 within five years. It’s possible you might do that. But your time and effort might be better spent on business models that offer a more immediate return on investment
